U-20 AFCON: ‘Our fate is in our hands’ – Bosso
Ahead of Flying Eagles’ last Group A clash against Mozambique U-20, coach Ladan Bosso has warned that the team’s fate is in their hands.
Nigeria U-20 must avoid defeat against the Young Mambas of Mozambique on Saturday to secure a place in the quarterfinals without any hassle.
They could also secure a place in the next round with a draw but a defeat could spell the end of their outing should Egypt U-20 beat Senegal and other results in other groups didn’t favour them as one of the two best losers.
Hence, the reason, the coach warned his boys they have to do it themselves when they face Mozambique on Saturday.
“The win over Egypt has kept the nerves down and the boys can now focus on playing their game; the way we know they can play. We must stamp our authority on the game from the beginning as we have no idea what will happen in the match between Egypt and Senegal. Our fate is in our hands.”
Nigeria U-20 face Mozambiquu at the 22,000-capacity Suez Canal Stadium, while Egypt U-20 play Senegal U-20 in Cairo International Stadium, both games will be played the same time on Saturday evening.
Only the two top-placed teams in each group are guaranteed a place in the last eight, alongside the best two third-placed teams.
All four semi-finalists will fly Africa’s flag in Indonesia, from 20th May – 11th June
