Why Ebi, and Waldrum did not vote for Oshoala at FIFA Award
Super Falcons captain, Onome Ebi, and coach Randy Waldrum did not cast their votes for Asisat Oshoala during the voting process for the 2022 FIFA Women’s Best player.
There have been calls by Nigerians for Asisat Oshoala’s prowess on the pitch to be recognized by the world governing body during their awards.
Asisat Oshoala did not get any vote because she was not included in the final list of players available to Onome Ebi, and coach Randy Waldrum.
40-year-old Onome Ebi who is without a club and still the captain of Nigeria Women’s national football team voted for Alexia Putellas, Aitana Bonmatí, and Wendie Renard as her 1st, 2nd, and 3rd picks.
While coach Randy Waldrum voted for Beth Mead, Sam Kerr, and Alexia Putellas in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions respectively.
In the year of review, Asisat Oshoala won a record 5th African Women’s player of the year award and won La Liga women’s Pichichi award despite missing out for two months.
She also won the domestic treble with Barcelona; La Liga, Copa de la Reina, and the Spanish Super Cup.
Asisat Oshoala failed to get a single vote because she was not included in the final 14 listed for the award.
