Flying Eagles win AFCON U-20 Group Stage Fair Play Award

Nigeria’s U-20 team, Flying Eagles, have won the fair play award at the ongoing AFCON U-20 tournament in Egypt.

Despite finishing with four yellow cards, and one red card, CAF has awarded the fair play award to the Flying Eagles.

Nigeria U-20 finished second in Group A with 6 points. The 10-man Flying Eagles lost 1-0 to Senegal in their first game and defeated Egypt U-20, and Mozambique U-20 1-0, and 2-0 in their next games.

They picked up 2 yellow, and 1 red card in their first game against Senegal, and 1 yellow each in the games against Egypt, and Mozambique.

Tomorrow, Nigeria will play against Uganda U-20 for a place in the semifinal of the tournament. The win will also secure their place in the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

The Flying Eagles will be playing in their 8th quarterfinal on Thursday, in fact, they have featured in the knockout stages in every AFCON U-20 they have participated in.
