Osimhen goes past George Weah goal-scoring record in Italy
After scoring his 47th Italian Serie A goal in Napoli`s 1-0 win over Fiorentina on Sunday, Victor Osimhen has gone past George Weah to become the highest scoring African player in Italian Serie A history.
The Napoli hitman missed a first half penalty at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on May 7, but made no mistake with a second spot-kick in the 47th minute for his 47th goal.
1995 Ballon D`or winner George Weah scored a total of 46 Italian Serie A goals to hold the record since 1999 that was few months after Osimhen was born in December 1998.

Weah bagged his goals during a glorious stint with AC Milan before moving to Chelsea in year 2000.
The likes of Samuel Eto`o have played in the Italian Serie A (2009-2011) but it is 24-year old Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen who has sensationally clipped the current Liberian Presidents record.
Osimhen has so far scored 23 league goals this season to help Napoli win a first Scudetto in 33-years.
With four games more to play this season, Osimhen will get chances to further extend his record and place his name in the history book as the highest scoring African in the Serie A for a long time, just like his predecessor George Weah whose record lasted for 24-years.
