Osimhen, Lookman nominated for Serie A team of the season

Two Super Eagles players Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman have been shortlisted for the Lega Serie A team of the season as powered by EA SPORTS.

This is an acknowledgement of their superb performances in the 2022/2023 season for their respective clubs.

For Victor Osimhen, this will go down as his most memorable season yet having fired Napoli to a first Scudetto in 33-years.

The 24-year old forward has scored 23 goals already this season to lead the goal-scorers chart in Italy and looks set to stay in the team of the season.

Ademola Lookman of Atalanta gets a spot in the shortlist after an impressive start to his first season in the Italian Serie A.

A blazing start to the campaign saw Lookman net 13-goals to set-up a race for the highest goal-scorer award with compatriot Victor Osimhen.

While Osimhen continued scoring, a goal drought and quiet second half of the season left the 25-year old Eagle way off the the mark.

His performances in 28-appearances for 7th place Atalanta has been considered good enough for nomination for the EA SPORTS SerieA team of the season.

Another Nigerian blood also played his way into the prestigious list. Defender Destiny Udogie has been fantastic for Udinese and is listed among the defenders.

On-loan at Udinese from English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur, Udogie played 31-times this term scoring 3-times and assisting loads of other from his left back position.

His nomination will boost his rating at White Hart Lane where a massive summer shake-up could see the 20-year old trusted with a spot in the Tottenham Hotspur team when he returns this summer.

Born in Italy to Nigerian parents, Destiny Udogie is eligible to represent Italy and Nigeria at full international level.

The Serie team of the season will be announced after votes from fans on the 44-player long list.
