OFFICIAL: Odion Ighalo leaves Al Hilal

An official statement by Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal has announced Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo has left the club following the conclusion of the 2022/2023 season.

Al Hilal made the announcement on their Twitter handle on Friday, thanking the former Manchester United forward and wishing him well. The Saudi Arabian Club wrote:

“Thanks @ighalojude 🦅
Wishing you good luck and success 💙
#AlHilal.”

Recall that Ighalo joined Al Hilal on January 29, 2022 from another Saudi Arabian club Al Shabab.

The Super Eagle did finish that season as the league’s top scorer with 24 goals, winning the Saudi Professional League in the 2021/22 season.

With Al Hilal, Ighalo featured in two FIFA Club World Cup’s, significantly helping the Blues to the final in 2022.

In the just concluded season, Odion Ighalo scored 21 goals, and assisted two others in 34 appearances for the capital club as they finished in 3rd spot behind Al Nassr and Champions Al Ittihad.

A AFC Final loss to Urawa Reds denied Ighalo continental glory in Asia but Al Hilal won the Saudi Kings Cup title in the just concluded season.

Ighalo leaves Al Hilal as a free agent following the expiration of his contract. At the moment no mention has been made of his next move.
