Taye Taiwo has been away from active football for one year. So it is general believe he has retired after nearly two decades in the game.
His last contract was with Finland club Salpa where he made just eight appearances before he was released in June 2022.
Since then, the former Olympique Marseille left-back has gone off the spotlight, with no trace to his involvement with any club.
He has not officially announced his retirement from active football but having turned 38 in April 2023, it is thought that the former Nigerian International will be enjoying the best of life away from stress of active football.
Taye Taiwo’s 2005 Flying Eagles teammate and Silver ball winner, Mikel Obi in September 2022 announced his retirement from active football , so it would be a deserved time-out for the left back too.
