Carabao Cup: Iheanacho steals the show as Leicester City zoom past Burton Albion
Ndidi on scoresheet for Foxes in comfortable win
Kelechi Iheanacho delivered a reminder of his quality to new Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca with a goal and an assist for his side in their 2-0 win over Burton Albion in their Carabao Cup First Round clash.
Super Eagles ace Iheanacho was introduced from the bench for the Foxes in their Championship opener against Coventry City, but was included from the start for the short trip to Burton Albion.
It took the former Manchester City prodigy all of six minutes to open the scoring for the Foxes with a clinical piece of finishing. He timed his movement in the box before latching onto a cross from Marc Albrighton and executing a back-heel volley to score his first goal of the season.
With the first half in its closing stages, Leicester City doubled their advantage. Iheanacho played a big part as he beat his marker before squaring for international teammate Wilfred Ndidi to slam the ball home from inside the box.
Iheanacho lasted 75 minutes before he was taken off by the manager and replaced by Kasey McAteer. Ndidi was hauled off earlier, in the 57th minute, for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
The Nigerian duo will be hopeful of claiming starting berths for the Foxes when they take on Huddersfield Town in the Championship away from home at the weekend.
