Haaland bags brace as Man City BURN Burnley in EPL season opener

Nowergian striker Erling Haaland bagged a brace as Manchester City Burned down new boys Burnley in the opening game of the 2023/2024 EPL season.

Inside the opening three minutes, Haaland scored the first goal of the 2023/2024 English Premier League season to continue his fine form for the Citizens.

City suffered a blow In the 22nd minute when skipper Kevin De Bruyne had to come of with Injury. In his place, Pep Guardiola sent on former Chelsea man Matteo Kovacic for his Manchester City EPL debut.

Burnley were not all bad but we’re punished further by the prolific Erling Haaland when he doubled City’s lead in the 36th minute.

A fantastic finish it was by Erling Haaland for his second of the game from a pass from Argentina strike partner Julián Álvarez. Without even looking at the goal, Haaland fired a fierce finish into the back of the net to hand City a healthy 0-2 lead into the halftime break.

A scrapy second half followed until last seasons UEFA Champions League match-winner Rodrigo added a 3rd goal for the Citizens to complete a 3-0 win over Vincent Kompany’s men who finished the game with ten men following a late red card at Turf Moor.

A winning start for the English Premier League Champions, another statement of intent that they are not taking foot off the wheel and will push for a fourth straight title.

Action continues on Saturday August 12 with last seasons runner-up, Arsenal facing Nottingham Forest, in a fixture that last season ended the gunners EPL title charge.
