Osimhen scores in Napoli pre-season win

Victor Osimhen shook off a knock to participate in and score in Napoli’s 2-0 pre-season win over Apollon Limassol on Friday August 11.

The final game of the Italian Serie A champions pre-season activities, Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen recovered from what looked like a injury setback to score the opening goal.

That goal arrived on the hour mark and could serve as a boost for last seasons Italian Serie A top-scorer as attention turns towards the coming league season.

Giovanni Simeone made it 2-0 on 71 minutes to crown the win for Rudi Garcia’s men.

With pre-season done, Napoli will begin their Italian Serie A title defence vs Frosinone on August 19 at the Stadio Benito Stirpe.

In a related development, Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has confirmed Osimhen will stay at the club for the coming season despite multiple interest after a sterling 2022/2023 season.

The President said ” Osimhen is staying, he has another two years of contract, where else does he go?

“We have contracts, and they must always be respected by both parties because it’s a two-way relationship.

“As long as there is transparency, then yes, he always gets on well and with Osimhen there is transparency in every instance. Stay calm.”
