Randy Waldrum has revealed how he felt watching England defeat Australia to reach the final of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Recall that Randy Waldrum led Super Falcons had come up against both World Cup semi-finalists at the tournament.
Nigeria stunned Australia in a 3-2 group stage result while England required penalty shoot-out to eliminate the Super Falcons when they met in the round of 16.
Reacting to England’s 3-1 semi-final win over Australia on Wednesday August 15, Waldrum said he was proud both teams could not defeat the Super Falcons in regulation time at the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
“Proud moment watching this England –Australia semi-final! We beat Australia and tied England with the Super Falcons! What a tournament we had!,” the American wrote on Twitter.
England will now face Spain in the final of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, a first ever final for the two European nations will take place on August 20 in Sydney.
Meanwhile, Waldrum’s future as Head Coach of the Super Falcons is threatened with rife speculations the Nigeria Football Federation will not extend his contract despite the teams brilliant performance at the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
It is obvious the NFF has not gotten over pre-tournament verbal outbursts by the Coach, and so could decide to part ways to avoid future clashes.
