Awoniyi beaten to player of the month award by Maddison
Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi has been beaten to the English Premier League player of the month award by Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison.
Awoniyi, Maddison and four others were nominated for the English Premier League player of the month of August award.
As announced by EA Sports, Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison is the English Premier League player of the month of August.
Awoniyi scored three goals in the month in review for Nottingham Forest. His goals helped him go level with Emmanuel Adebayor and Liverpool FC forward Mohamed Salah for the African record of scoring in seven consecutive EPL games.
That wasn’t enough to win the EPL player of the month award for Taiwo Awoniyi who last weekend scored one of the goals as Nigeria spanked Sao Tome and Principe 6-0 in their final AFCON qualification game.
