Gift Orban nets perfect hat-trick to guide Gent to win over Breidablik
Super Eagles ace returning to form for Belgian side
Gift Orban scored a perfect hat-trick for KAA Gent as they claimed a hard-fought 3-2 win over Icelandic side Breidablik in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Left out of the Super Eagles roster for the games against Lesotho and Zimbabwe, Orban has a lot of work to do to get back in contention. The 21-year-old scored against Charleroi at the weekend, and earned a start for the match in Iceland.
It took only six minutes for Orban to open the scoring for his side, with a deep cross from Pieter Gerkens finding his run, and he headed the ball over the goalkeeper in deft fashion.
Breidablik, who lost the first leg in Belgium, were not going down without a fight and drew level only ten minutes later when Jason Svanthorsson scored for them.
The 23-year-old forward scored his second of the night in the 18th minute to put his side ahead for the first time in the game.
Orban equalised for his side in the 54th minute with a powerfully-struck penalty before completing his hat-trick 15 minutes later. Moroccan forward Tarik Tissoudali received a fine pass in behind before squaring the ball to Orban, who applied a left-footed finish to seal the win.
