‘ Playing for the Super Eagles will be a dream come true ‘ – Egypt-based Godwin Chika reveals
Egypt based Nigerian footballer, Godwin Chika says playing for the Super Eagles will be a dream come true for him. SportsRation reports.
Godwin Chika who currently plays in the Egyptian Premier League with El Gaish SC , in a recent interview spoke about his national team ambition and journey to becoming a professional footballer.
” it will be a dream come true for me to represent my country Nigeria at the national level, ” the El Gaish goal machine said of his national team ambition.
Aged 26, Godwin Chika learned the basics of football with grassroots teams in Nigeria.
The forward then joined Bright Stars Football Club in Port Harcourt from where he made move to Cynosure FC, Nigeria Premier Football League side Rivers United before his first foreign deal arrived.
“My journey to becoming a professional footballer wasn’t an easy one. it was a hard one, but so far so good, the results are counting for me, ” Chika recalled.
He added “I’m very happy with what I’ve achieved today, and I believe that there is more to come in the future.
” I started from Bright Stars football club, Port Harcourt and it wasn’t easy, you know what grassroots football is like in Naija (Nigeria), but hopefully, I scaled through. God did it for me. so far so good, I’m doing good and I’m very happy.
” I played Cynosure (amateur team), traveled, and came back to play Rivers United, I think these are the only teams I have played in Nigeria since I wasn’t really involved in the Nigerian league”. he said.
Godwin Chika first joined Al Tawon of Libya where he played the half a season, with a prolific return of 6 goals in 8 appearances to spark interest in Egypt.
The Super Eagles hopeful joined Egyptian Premier League club El Gaish in the last transfer window.
He has scored 2 goals in 3 appearances for his new club.
