‘ We could not convert our chances ‘ – Stanley Eguma reveals why Rivers United lost CAF Confederation Cup clah vs Dreams FC

Rivers United FC head coach, Stanley Eguma said failing to convert chances created was the reason why his team lost to Dreams FC in the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday, December , 2023.

The Nigerian club faced their Ghanian opponents in a CAF Confederation cup group stage fixture on matchday two and fell 2-1 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

John Antwi scored the opening goal in the 35th minute, with Eric Boateng providing the assist.

Boateng also set up Abdul Aziz Issah for the second goal 15 minutes from time.

Rivers United reduced the deficit through Alex Oyowah in stoppage time which proved to be only a consolation goal.

” They ( Dream FC) got their chances and converted them, especially in the first half., ” Eguma said after the match.

“We had a load of chances in the second half but unfortunately, we couldn’t convert those chances.

” That was our greatest undoing today and I think we have to go back and work on those areas and come back stronger in the next game”, he stated.

On matchday three of the CAF Confederation Cup group-stage, Rivers United FC will welcome Tunisian outit, Club Africain in Uyo on the 10th of December, 2023.

The Tunisian side defeated Academica Lobito of Angola 1-3 in their game on Sunday to lead the group with six points.
