Liverpool Vs Manchester United: Erik ten Hag confident despite recent struggles

Ahead of the clash vs Liverpool, Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, remains confident in his position despite the team’s recent struggles, including back-to-back defeats to Bournemouth and Bayern Munich.

The Dutch manager, who faces the daunting challenge of a clash against table-topping Liverpool, insists that he has the backing of the club’s decision-makers.

In a pre-match interview ahead of the Liverpool encounter, Ten Hag acknowledged the difficulties faced by his injury-ravaged squad.

Despite reports suggesting that another heavy defeat could have consequences for his future at the club, Ten Hag expressed that he feels the support from the decision-makers within Manchester United.

The upcoming fixture against Liverpool holds added significance for Manchester United, given the memories of last season’s 7-0 humiliation at the hands of their arch-rivals.

Ten Hag is keen to focus on the process of improving the team’s performance and individual players.

He emphasized the motivation within the squad, stating that facing a challenging opponent like Liverpool at Anfield is an opportunity that top footballers relish.

Acknowledging the tough task ahead, Ten Hag encouraged his players to look forward and learn from past experiences.

While memories of the previous season remain, the manager believes that Sunday’s match provides an opportunity for the team to prove themselves and demonstrate progress since the 7-0 defeat at Anfield last year.

ERIK TEN HAG’S PRE-MATCH COMMENTS

Asked if he has support from United board: “I feel that. They tell me. That’s fine and that is OK. I am focusing on the process, I am focusing on making this team play better and making the individuals play better.

“That is my concern and what I am focusing on. No [I can’t get distracted about talk of me losing my job]. That is of no concern.

On the memories from last-seasons 7-0 bashing: “I think everyone is highly motivated when you go to Anfield,” he added. “You know it is going to be tough. That is everything a top footballer wants; they want the challenge.

“You have to look forward. We take last year in our memory, but you have to take the benefit from it and learn from it. On Sunday we can prove that.”
