Nigerians Abroad: Ndidi gets assist in Leceister City win, Iheanacho benched
Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi played a crucial role in Leicester City’s 3-0 triumph against Rotherham United in Saturday’s Championship game.
Ndidi, making his 18th appearance of the season, provided the assist for Patson Daka’s opening goal in the 60th minute.
The first half proved challenging for Leicester City against a resilient Rotherham side, but Daka broke the deadlock with Ndidi’s well-executed pass.
Daka added a second goal from the penalty spot after being fouled by Johansson, and Cesare Casadei sealed the victory with a header from Ricardo Pereira’s cross.
The win solidifies Leicester City’s position at the top of the Championship table with 58 points. In contrast, Rotherham United continues to struggle, sitting at the bottom with 13 points.
While Ndidi showcased his playmaking skills, fellow Nigerian international Kelechi Iheanacho was notably absent from the match.
Iheanacho has made 18 appearances for Leicester City this season, contributing five goals to the team’s campaign but was an unused substitute for the championship game at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, December 23, 2023.
