Crystal Palace lead race to sign AFCON-bound Super Eagles defender

AFCON-bound Super Eagles and Fenerbahce defender, Bright Osayi-Samuel could see his dream of playing in the Premier League come true in January, with Crystal Palace reportedly leading the race for his signature.

According to TEAMtalk, Crystal Palace has emerged as the front-runner, surpassing competition from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leeds United.

Osayi-Samuel, 25, began his professional career at Blackpool and later moved to Queens Park Rangers in 2017.

After spending three and a half years at QPR, he made a move to Fenerbahce in January 2021.

During his time with the Turkish club, Osayi-Samuel has showcased his talent in various competitions, including Champions League qualifying, Europa League, and Europa Conference League. He played a significant role in Fenerbahce’s triumph in the Turkish Cup last season.

Crystal Palace is reportedly impressed with Osayi-Samuel’s consistent performances this season and is actively considering bringing him back to England.

The club sees an opportunity to secure the Nigerian defender at a reduced cost as his contract with Fenerbahce is set to expire in June 2025.

Despite Crystal Palace’s interest, they face competition from other Premier League clubs, with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leeds United also expressing interest in acquiring Osayi-Samuel’s services.

The race for Osayi-Samuel’s signature is expected to heat up in the upcoming transfer window.
