Cote d’Ivoire send message to Nigeria and 22 others with 5-1 spanking of Sierra Leone
2023 Africa Cup of Nations hosts, Cote d’Ivoire have sent message to group A opponents Nigeria and 22 other AFCON participants with a 5-1 spanking of Sierra Leone.
The AFCON preparatory International friendly game between Cote d’Ivoire and Sierra Leone took place on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Al Salaam stadium.
It took the Ivoriens eighteen minutes to open the scoring through Diomand Othman.
Franck Kessie and Jonathan Bamba also hit the target in a one-sided first forty-five minutes of football.
Jeremie Buga and Amani Lazare added further strikes to put the Elephants 5-0 up before the Leone stars grabbed their lone goal of the contest in the 86th minute.
It ended 5-1, a convincing display by the Cote d’Ivoire national team who will hope to make their nation proud when the AFCON gets underway next week.
The Elephants will begin their campaign vs Guinea Bissau on January 13 before facing the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea in group A
