Nwabali gets 20m from Rivers State Gov. following 2023 AFCON heroics
Chippa United are still waiting for the return of Nigerian goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali following his successful 2023 Africa Cup of Nations outing with Nigeria.
This wait is caused by the multiple events to celebrate Nwabali and the Super Eagles team for finishing isn second place at the AFCON tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.
The latest event saw Rivers State native, Stanley Nwabali receive 20-million naira from the State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara.
Fubara bestowed a generous gift of N20 million upon Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, in recognition of his outstanding performance at the recently concluded African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Additionally, Governor Fubara conferred upon Nwabali the prestigious state honor of Distinguished Service Star of Rivers State (DSSRS).
The Rivers State Governor, in a statement released by his Special Assistant on Media, Boniface Onyedi after the event, expressed pride in Nwabali’s achievements, emphasizing that the goalkeeper had brought honor to Rivers State through his exceptional talent and dedication on the field.
During a special reception held at the Government House in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara hosted Stanley Nwabali and the Rivers Hoopers Basketball Team, to reaffirm his commitment to fostering an environment conducive to excellence and global recognition for the people of Rivers State.
The Super Eagles’ crew present at the reception ceremony, including Coach Jose Peseiro and Finidi George also received a cash reward of N30m for their efforts at the just concluded Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Ivory Coast.
Fubara also gifted Rivers Hoopers, the State owned basketball team, which emerged the champions of the National Basketball League the sum of 50 million naira for their outstanding achievement in the league.
