Sacked Cote d’Ivoire coach gets new job in France

Jean-Louis Gasset was sacked by Cote d’Ivoire after the group stage of the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations tournament but has gotten a new job in France.

Jean-Louis Gasset paid the price for a poor AFCON group stage run, and was replaced by Emerse Fae who led the Elephants to title glory.

Just over a week since the AFCON ended, the veteran coach is set for a new chapter in his illustrious career.

French Ligue 1 side, Olympique Marseille have sacked Gennaro Gattuso and in his place, Jean-Louis Gasset has been appointed as manager.

Gattuso’s departure comes amid speculation about the club’s future direction, with the board aiming to rejuvenate the team’s performance in both domestic and European competitions.

Jean-Louis Gasset’s appointment signals Marseille’s intention to appoint a manager with a deep understanding of French football.

While Gasset’s tenure with Ivory Coast ended prematurely, his extensive experience in French football, including previous stints at notable clubs like Montpellier and Saint-Etienne, aligns with Marseille’s vision.

As Marseille turns the page on Gattuso’s chapter, Gasset’s appointment represents a new beginning for the club.
