Isreal Adesanya informs Anthony Joshua of boxing offer which falls short of his target
Former UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya recently engaged in a conversation with British-Nigerian professional boxer Anthony Joshua regarding a potential return to boxing.
Adesanya, known for his prowess in mixed martial arts, shared insights from his encounter with Joshua at the latter’s fight against Otto Wallin. Their interaction wasn’t merely a casual celebrity meeting but rather highlighted mutual respect for each other’s athletic abilities.
During their conversation, Adesanya disclosed that he had received a boxing contract offer but turned it down due to inadequate financial terms. While he remains open to the idea of returning to boxing for the right offer, he pointed out that the recent proposal fell short of his expectations.
Adesanya expressed appreciation for the UFC’s support and suggested that any boxing offer would need to meet his financial requirements. He acknowledged the significance of a lucrative deal to incentivize his return to the boxing ring.
During a conversation as shared on Youtube with Joshua, Adesanya said, “Bro! You know who hit me up? **** ‘My brother did you ever think about going in the boxing ring?’ I was like I already did!
“The money is too much for them to get me back. I feel like I have done that, and now that the UFC is taking care of me pretty well.
” But, I know what you mean, there’s a number, but I don’t know these guys are willing to pay it.” Adesanya said.
The exchange between Adesanya and Joshua underscores the camaraderie and respect among elite athletes, transcending the boundaries of their respective sports.
Despite their different disciplines, they share a common understanding of the business aspects involved in professional sports.
Adesanya is expected to be present at Joshua’s upcoming bout against Francis Ngannou on March 8, 2024.
