Joshua to Ngannou: Don’t leave boxing
Anthony Joshua has advised Francis Ngannou not to leave boxing after the Camerounian suffered a ‘crushing’ second round loss to him in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
In a stunning display of dominance, Anthony Joshua asserted his authority in the heavyweight division with a devastating second-round knockout victory over Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia.
The 34-year-old British boxer showcased his prowess early on, sending the UFC champion to the canvas in the first round and following up with another powerful blow in the second. Despite a valiant effort to regain his composure, Ngannou was unable to withstand Joshua’s relentless assault.
As the referee intervened to stop the contest, Ngannou appeared dazed and in need of medical attention, highlighting the ferocity of Joshua’s onslaught.
Speaking after the STUNNING! second round win on March 8, British-Nigerian boxer, Anthony Joshua said he will go back to his ‘cage’ and wait for his next fight. The 34-year old also had kind words for his opponent whoia set for a return to MMA this year.
“I’m going back to my cage and when they let me out, I’ll fight again,” Joshua said, as WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury watched on from ringside.
“When I saw the fight with Tyson Fury I thought ‘I want some of that’. [Ngannou] is a great champion and this doesn’t take anything away from his capabilities,” said Joshua.
“I told him not to leave boxing. He’s two fights in and he’s fought the best.” Joshua remarked.
The victory over Francis Ngannou is Anthony Joshua’s fourth in 11 months, and keeps alive his ambition of recapturing a world title.
