See why Mohammed Kudus will miss Nigeria Vs Ghana clash
Ghana and West Ham attacking midfielder, Mohammed Kudus, is set to miss the highly anticipated clash against Nigeria after sustaining a knee injury.
The 23-year-old midfielder, known for his versatility across the pitch, has been a standout performer under the guidance of David Moyes at West Ham this season.
With injuries to key players like Michail Antonio and a dip in form for Danny Ings, Moyes deployed Kudus on the right flank while Jarod Bowen shifted to the forward position, resulting in an impressive tally of ten goal involvements in the Premier League and twenty across all competitions this season.
Despite his stellar performances, Kudus couldn’t steer Ghana to success at the AFCON 2023 tournament, which led to the dismissal of their former coach, Chris Hughton, and the appointment of Otto Addo from Borussia Dortmund.
Addo, who commands a monthly salary of $50,000 from the Ghanaian FA, included Kudus in his 26-man squad for the upcoming friendly against Nigeria.
However, a report from West Ham Zone revealed that the midfielder will return to his club for medical treatment for a knee discomfort, ruling him out of the clash with Nigeria.
Nigeria’s stand-in coach, Finidi George, will also have to cope without Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, and Taiwo Awoniyi, who are sidelined due to injuries.
In their place, Cyriel Dessers, Sadiq Umar, and Nathan Tella are the likely candidates to fill the void in the Super Eagles’ attacking lineup vs Ghana and Mali.
