Usain Bolt and Taylor Swift honored with multi-million Pound Cranes
Sports Superstars Usain Bolt and Taylor Swift are set to be commemorated with £25 million 128ft cranes named after them, following a school competition.
The legendary sprinter and multiple Olympic champion, Usain Bolt, will have his crane named “U-Crane Bolt,” while the renowned American Grammy Award winner, Taylor Swift, will have hers named “Craner Swift.”
According to the BBC, the £25 million cranes, constructed in Ireland, are scheduled to arrive at the port in the coming months. The competition to name the cranes was organized by site owner Peel Ports Clydeport in partnership with Inverclyde Council.
Jim McSporran, port director at Peel Ports Clydeport, expressed excitement about the cranes becoming an integral part of the local skyline for years to come. He highlighted the significant expansion of freight capability at the port, improved efficiency, and substantial reduction in carbon footprint as the cranes contribute to enhancing trade and productivity in the region.
The installation of the cranes marks the largest single investment made at the container terminal, aimed at boosting trade and productivity. They are expected to be fully operational by the end of the year 2024.
The naming of the cranes after Usain Bolt and Taylor Swift serves as a tribute to their remarkable achievements and contributions to their respective fields, symbolizing their lasting impact on the world stage.
