Brentford hold Manchester United to draw at the Gtech Stadium

In a Premier League game that fans at the Gtech Community Stadium had to wait until the very end for goals, Brentford FC held Manchester United to a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United were denied victory as they conceded a late equalizer to draw 1-1 against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium in Round 30 of the Premier League on March 30, 2024.

Brentford started the match on the front foot, with Ivan Toney hitting the post with their best chance early on. Despite United’s attempts to gain momentum as the first half progressed, Brentford continued to dominate proceedings.

The hosts came close to scoring multiple times, with Mathias Jorgensen’s angled header hitting the crossbar and Yoane Wissa missing a promising opportunity from close range. United were fortunate to reach halftime with the scoreline still level.

As the match approached its conclusion, United seemed to have secured an unlikely victory when Mason Mount found the back of the net, sending their supporters into jubilation. However, Brentford had other plans.

In a stunning turn of events, Brentford quickly responded with a stoppage-time goal of their own. Kristoffer Ajer capitalized on Ivan Toney’s clever cut-back to score the equalizer in the ninth minute of added time, salvaging a well-deserved point for the Bees.

The draw left Manchester United disappointed after conceding late in the game, while Brentford celebrated their resilience in earning a valuable point against the Red Devils.

Nigerian midfielder Frank Onyeka was an unused substitute for Brentford FC.
