New York Knicks’ Julius Randle to undergo season-ending surgery on right shoulder
The New York Knicks have announced that forward Julius Randle will undergo season-ending surgery on his right shoulder.
Randle, who has been sidelined since dislocating his shoulder on January 27 during a game against the Miami Heat, will undergo the surgery and then be reevaluated in five months.
Randle’s injury has left a significant impact on the Knicks, who are currently the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference with a record of 44-31.
Despite facing substantial injury setbacks throughout the season, the team continues to push forward towards the playoffs.
Adding to their injury concerns, midseason acquisition OG Anunoby remains sidelined with an injured right elbow.
However, the Knicks received a boost recently when center Mitchell Robinson returned to the court on March 27 after missing 50 games due to a left ankle injury.
Randle, who was selected as an All-Star in 2024, had been a key contributor to the Knicks’ success this season, averaging 24 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 5 assists per game.
With his absence, the Knicks will need to rely on their depth and resilience as they navigate the remainder of the season and push for a strong playoff position.
