Wilfred Ndidi opens up about fitness struggles amid return to action
Leicester City’s Nigerian midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, has candidly discussed his ongoing battle with fitness following his recent comeback from a debilitating injury that sidelined him for a significant period.
Ndidi’s absence due to fitness issues was deeply felt by Leicester City and the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the 2023 AFCON, where his presence was sorely missed on the field.
The Foxes struggled to maintain control in the English Championship without his commanding influence.
Ndidi marked his return against Sunderland, signaling a step up towards full fitness.
However, he acknowledges that regaining full fitness is a gradual process that evolves with each game, along with a resurgence in confidence.
Speaking in an interview with Leicester City’s official website, Ndidi expressed optimism about his progress but emphasized that achieving peak fitness requires patience and perseverance.
“I’m getting closer to full fitness, but it comes slowly and gradually. It doesn’t just come in one or two games. As we move forward, we’ll see what happens in the future.
“If I’m in the team, I’ll always do my best, but the fitness always comes game by game, as does the confidence also,” Ndidi revealed in an interview with Leicester City’s official website.
With Leicester City aiming for promotion to the Premier League, Ndidi’s return to form is crucial for the team’s success in navigating the challenges of the English Championship.
