Samuel Chukwueze shines as AC Milan secure seventh consecutive victory

Samuel Chukwueze continued his fine form as AC Milan clinched their seventh consecutive win across all competitions, defeating Lecce 3-0 at San Siro on Saturday.

The Nigerian wide attacker played a pivotal role in the victory, setting up Christian Pulisic’s 10th Serie A goal of the season, continuing his impressive run for AC Milan under coach Stefano Pioli.

Facing a Lecce side that had recently shown resilience under new manager Luca Gotti, AC Milan wasted no time asserting dominance, with Pulisic and Olivier Giroud finding the net within the first 20 minutes. Rafael Leao sealed the win with a third goal before the hour mark, while Lecce played the second half with 10 men following Nikola Krstovic’s dismissal for a foul on Chukwueze.

Chukwueze, who made his ninth Serie A start due to Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s suspension, excelled in his role behind Giroud. Apart from providing an assist for Pulisic’s goal, Chukwueze created numerous chances, with five key passes – the most by any player on the pitch.

Despite Lecce’s efforts to contain him, Chukwueze showcased his attacking prowess by frequently penetrating the opposition box and winning several fouls. Additionally, he demonstrated defensive contributions by successfully engaging in ground duels, tackles, and recoveries.

After a challenging start to his Milan career, Chukwueze’s recent performances indicate a positive turnaround, offering promise for the remainder of the season.

Looking ahead, Chukwueze may feature in Milan’s Europa League clash against Roma and the subsequent Serie A fixture against Sassuolo, as the team aims to extend their winning streak and maintain their strong form in the league and continental competitions.
