2024 Nigeria Federation Cup national finalists revealed as playoff round gets fixtures

The men’s and women’s Federation Cup competitions are set to intensify as the national play-off matches kick off on Thursday in five cities across the Federation. These cities include Gombe, Jos, Katsina, Asaba, and Enugu.

Following the conclusion of the state-level competitions last weekend, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) received entries from a total of 70 teams for the national finals.

Notably, Yobe State did not register for the competition, while Borno and Adamawa States registered only one team each instead of the expected two. Consequently, the initial field of 74 teams was reduced to 70.

Twelve teams have been selected for the play-off based on ranking, with the remaining 58 teams placed on standby. The six teams that emerge from the play-off matches will join the standby teams for the National Draw, resulting in a total of 64 teams.

In the women’s competition, a total of 31 teams are participating in the national finals, with only 20 states having registered teams.

Several states, including Benue, Ekiti, Imo, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Ogun, Osun, and Oyo, registered only one team each. In contrast, states like Abia, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Enugu, Kaduna, Lagos, Ondo, Plateau, Rivers, and the FCT registered two teams each.

The play-off fixtures are as follows:

  1. Classic FC (Adamawa) vs. Gamji Eaglets (Taraba) – Gombe – 4pm
  2. Warinje FC (Bauchi) vs. Simon Ben Academy (Kaduna) – Jos – 4pm
  3. Zamfara United Feeders (Zamfara) vs. PRO Line (Kano) – Katsina – 4pm
  4. Ine Stars (Edo) vs. Crusaders FC (Bayelsa) – Asaba – 4pm
  5. KC FC (Kogi) vs. PCM FC (Ebonyi) – Enugu – 2pm
