Not Real Madrid! Xavi Hernandez insists Barcelona deserved El Classico win
FC Barcelona head coach, Xavi Hernandez said his team deserved to win the El Classico after their 3-2 defeat to Real Madrid on Sunday night.
Despite the loss, Xavi expressed confidence in Barcelona’s performance, believing they played well enough to deserve a victory. He emphasised the youthfulness of his team, suggesting that their potential for future success is bright.
Even though Barcelona took the lead twice during the match, goals from Vinícius Jr, Lucas Vázquez, and Jude Bellingham secured the win for Real Madrid.
After the game, Xavi stated to the media: “Everyone saw that we were better. Imagine when these 17-18 year olds are 20. In the future, there will be success. We have to tell the fans that we deserved to win and were better than Real Madrid.”
This statement from Xavi reflects his belief in his team’s abilities and their potential for improvement. It’s not the first time he has expressed such sentiments, having done so previously in another El Clásico defeat.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid have extended their lead at the top of the Spanish La Liga table to eleven points over FC Barcelona in second place.
