Ademola Lookman named Europa League Player of the Week
Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman has been honored as the Europa League Player of the Week following his outstanding performance in Atalanta’s semi-final victory over Marseille.
Lookman, 26, played a key role in Atalanta’s historic achievement of reaching their first-ever European final with a commanding 4-1 aggregate win over Marseille.
In the second leg played in Bergamo, Ademola Lookman opened the scoring with a clinical finish from the edge of the box, showcasing his adeptness in front of goal.
In addition, he then assisted Matteo Ruggeri for Atalanta’s second goal, solidifying their dominance in the match.
His remarkable display earned him the UEFA Europa League Player of the Week accolade, prevailing over strong competition from Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar, who made 12 saves against Bayer Leverkusen.
This recognition marks the culmination of a remarkable season for Lookman in Italy, where he has contributed a total of 20 goals and assists across all competitions for Atalanta.
With Atalanta set to face Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final on May 22nd, Lookman’s exceptional form positions him as one of the team’s primary threats as they vie for their maiden Europa League title against the German side.
