‘A champion must establish himself in Europe’ – Italian coach advises Victor Osimhen amidst Saudi Arabia interest
Italian coach Cesare Prandelli has encouraged Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen to ignore a potential move to Saudi Arabia and remain at Napoli.
Osimhen has been the subject of intense transfer speculation in recent months, with several clubs showing interest in the prolific forward.
Osimhen, who was named CAF Player of the Year, has garnered attention from Saudi Arabian clubs looking to outbid PSG after negotiations between the French club and Napoli stalled. However, Prandelli has advised the Nigerian striker to focus on establishing himself in Europe before considering a move to the Middle East.
Speaking on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, Prandelli said, “Osimhen in Arabia? A champion must establish himself in Europe, he has the chance. There will be time to go elsewhere.”
Despite several offers, including player-for-cash deals that meet his exit clause, Napoli is unwilling to accept any trade. Two Saudi Arabian teams, Al Ahli and Al Hilal, are particularly interested in Osimhen and are prepared to activate his €130 million release clause. However, European clubs like PSG, Chelsea, and Arsenal have backed away due to the high fee.
Osimhen now faces a choice: stay at Napoli, move to another European club if a deal can be reached, or accept a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia. The striker’s decision will significantly impact his career trajectory and potential legacy in European football.
