‘A must-win game’ – Osimaga Duke talks tough ahead of Rivers United vs Akwa United
Rivers United midfielder, Osimaga Duke, has called the upcoming match against Akwa United a “must-win” for his team.
Rivers United, known as the Pride of Rivers, will face Akwa United in a matchday five fixture of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) in Port Harcourt on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
Duke, who used to play for Akwa United, promised to give his best in the game and urged fans to come out in large numbers to support the team.
“This is a must-win game for us. If we win, we will move to the top of the league table. We just need to win,” Duke said.
He added, “The fans should expect 100% effort from me, especially since it’s against my former team. I won’t let them down. They should come and support us. Akwa United has lost two games, and I know they will try to get at least a point, but we must beat them. We need this win to stay at the top of the table.”
Duke had a brief spell at Akwa United that didn’t go as planned. He has also played for Dakkada FC, Sunshine Stars, and Lobi Stars FC.
