‘A privilege’ – Bruno Onyemaechi reacts to 2023 AFCON chance
Boavista of Portugal defender Bruno Onyemaechi has admitted that it was a privilege to be part of the Super Eagles team at the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
The Nigerian side finished as the first runners-up in the competition after losing 1-2 to the host in the final.
The left-footed defender was one of the players who failed to kick a ball throughout the tournament but will pride in the silver-medal he received at the Final In February.
While speaking to the Punch, Onyemaechi said it was just a privilege for him.
“It was a privilege to be part of the AFCON squad and I will continue to give my best to the national team anytime I get called up so I can also make bigger tournaments like the World Cup”, he said.
Meanwhile, Onyemaechi has not received another call-up since the AFCON despite being a regular for his Portuguese club.
