Nigerian defender Ashleigh Plumptre has hailed retiring Super Desire Oparanozie as ‘ a true leader in all forms. ‘

Oparanozie announced her decision to retire from active football on Wednesday September 13 via a statement on a X account.

That announcement has drawn messages from fans, ex teammates, the latest from, Al Ittihad Ladies new signing Ashleigh Plumptre who played alongside the forward at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

” A true leader in all its forms,” Plumptre wrote on social media.

“So grateful to have played alongside you and learnt from your courage in always representing us and those who come after us ❤️ Big love to you always
@oparanozie9.”

Oparanozie hit international limelight when she famousness starred for the Falconets as they reached the 2010 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup final.

The 29-year old former Super Falcons skipper also helped Nigeria win four Women’s Africa Cup of Nations titles in 2010, 2014, 2016 and 2018.
