Abia Warriors head coach Bethel Orji has expressed his disappointment following his team’s defeat to El-Kanemi Warriors in the final of the President Federation Cup.
The Umuahia-based club suffered a 2-0 loss, with both goals scored by Nasiru Salisu, sealing the victory for El-Kanemi Warriors at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, Onikan on Saturday, June 29, 2024.
In a post-match interview, Orji described the outcome as unfortunate and pointed out that his players did not perform to their best abilities. “It was a game of two Warriors and one winner must emerge,” he remarked. “The defeat was an unfortunate one for us because our preparation was perfect.”

Despite their thorough preparations, Abia Warriors were unable to secure the win, leaving them as runners-up in the competition. Orji’s comments reflect the frustration and disappointment felt by the team and their supporters after coming so close to claiming the title.
If Abia Warriors had won, Abia State would have had two teams competing in the CAF Confederation Cup, with Enyimba FC already seasling a spot as 3rd place in the 2023/2024 NPFL standing.
