Abubakar Bala resigns as coach of Doma United amid relegation battle
Abubakar Bala has reportedly resigned from his role as head coach of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, Doma United of Gombe.
Bala took over the reins of the Savannah Tigers in March 2024 but has struggled to steer the club away from the relegation zone.
Before joining Doma United, Bala was the head coach of Niger Tornadoes. His tenure at Doma United has been marked by significant challenges, including the club’s slip into the relegation zone. The team currently sits 18th in the NPFL table.
In addition to the on-field struggles, Doma United has faced financial difficulties. Players and officials have not received their monthly stipends for the past two months, leading to discontent within the squad.
This financial strain has also resulted in the players refusing to train ahead of their rescheduled match against Sunshine Stars, set to take place at the Pantami Township Stadium on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.
