AC Milan Coach Explains Choosing Musah Over Chukwueze
ACÂ Milan manager Paulo Fonseca has shared why he prefers starting USA international Yunus Musah ahead of Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze.
Chukwueze’s Role at Milan
Chukwueze has struggled to secure a regular starting position since joining AC Milan, often being used as a substitute. Recently, Fonseca has opted for Musah on the right wing due to his stronger defensive abilities.
Despite this, Chukwueze reminded everyone of his quality during a recent Coppa Italia match against Sassuolo, where he scored twice in Milan’s 6-1 victory.
Fonseca’s Comments
Fonseca explained his decision in an interview shared by Milan News:
“Chukwueze is adapting well and progressing in the role we need on the right. However, defensively, Musah is stronger. Chukwueze can still play in some games where his attacking strengths are needed.”
Limited Opportunities
Chukwueze has made 50 appearances for AC Milan but most of them have been as a substitute. He has started only a few matches, including a recent UEFA Champions League game against Slovan Bratislava. In Serie A, he has started just two of the last five games and has scored three goals in all competitions.
