Adanaspor sign Nigerian midfielder Bonke Innocent from FC Lorient

Turkish First League club Adanaspor have confirmed the signing of Nigerian international Bonke Innocent from French Ligue 2 side FC Lorient.

The defensive midfielder has penned a deal with Adanaspor until June 30, 2024, with the club holding an option to extend the contract until the 2025-2026 season.

Bonke, 28, did not feature for Lorient this season, leading to speculation about his future before his transfer to Turkey. He joined Lorient in January 2022 as a free agent and made 42 appearances across all competitions, 41 of which were in Ligue 1.

Bonke began his professional career at Nigerian club Bujoc FC before stints at Moderate Stars, Lillestrøm, Malmö FF, and Lorient.

Since moving to Europe in 2014, he has accumulated 195 career appearances, including 27 in European competitions such as the UEFA Champions League and Europa League.

On the international front, Bonke made his Super Eagles debut in a World Cup qualifying match against Cape Verde in September 2021 and has earned four caps. However, he has not been called up to the national team since May 2022.
