Ademola Lookman linked to Manchester United
Manchester United are keeping a close eye on Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman as they look to strengthen their attack ahead of the summer transfer window.
Lookman, who has been in brilliant form for Atalanta since joining the Italian side in 2022, has scored 18 goals and provided seven assists this season from just 28 starts in all competitions. That means he’s been involved in a goal every 92 minutes – an impressive return for the 27-year-old.
His ability to play as a striker, attacking midfielder, or winger makes him a valuable and versatile option – something United are said to be looking for as they prepare for a major rebuild in attack.
While Rasmus Hojlund has struggled for form and Joshua Zirkzee is more of a link-up player than a pure striker, United manager Ruben Amorim is eager to bring in a more effective forward. Lookman, with his Premier League experience and explosive style, fits the bill.
The former Everton and Leicester City player could return to England, with reports suggesting that United are ready to meet Atalanta’s asking price of €60 million. The Serie A club are open to selling him following a reported disagreement between Lookman and head coach Gian Piero Gasperini.
According to Caught Offside, a meeting with Lookman’s representatives is expected to take place in April as United explore the possibility of signing him.
Clubs like Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, and Juventus are also interested, but United’s need for a proven and flexible attacker could give them the edge.
With Alejandro Garnacho’s future uncertain and Amad Diallo possibly being used in a new position, Lookman could be just what United need as they aim to rebuild their squad and compete at the top level once again.
