Ademola Lookman Says Super Eagles Are Not Under Pressure to Beat Rwanda

Ademola Lookman has said the Super Eagles are not feeling any pressure to beat Rwanda in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier, SportsRation reports.

Nigeria will play Rwanda’s Amavubi in a must-win Group C game at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali on Friday.

The Super Eagles have not won any of their four qualifying games so far, but Lookman is confident about their chances.

“There’s no pressure. I’m just happy to be back with the squad, back with the guys,” the Atalanta forward told OJB Sports. “We have a big task ahead of us, and we are looking forward to it.”

Lookman also said the team has been working hard to understand what head coach Eric Chelle wants from them.

“We’ve had lots of meetings about how the manager wants us to play—our game plan, and how we defend and attack,” Lookman said. “It’s all positive, and we are all following his ideas.”

Meanwhile, former Super Eagles captain Mutiu Adepoju has advised Chelle on the best formation to use against Rwanda.

Adepoju warned Chelle not to try a new system at this stage. The coach is known for using a diamond midfield formation, which he used successfully with Mali, but Adepoju believes it might confuse the players.

“It would be a little strange for the players and fans,” Adepoju told Afrik-Foot. “The system we are used to is playing from the wings, having the ball, and using players that attack from wide areas.”

“I think the coach should use something familiar so the players can play well in this important match,” he added.
