AFCON 2021: Aboubakar hits 4 mark in Cameroon’s win as Burkina Faso pip Cape Verde

The second round of the Africa Cup of Nations started with the clash between the hosts Cameroon and Ethiopia at the Stade Olembe on Thursday.

The Indomitable Lions who struggled in their first game of the tournament against The Stallions of Burkina Faso secured the biggest win of the campaign.

Cameroon came from a goal down to secure a convincing 4-1 win against Ethopia in their group A clash.

Dukele Dawa Hotessa 4th minutes strike stunned the host but hosts equalized through Karl Toko Ekambi in the 8th minutes of the game.

It ended 1-1 at half time.

But Cameroon came out firing in the second half and were rewarded when Vincent Aboubakar headed home in the 53rd minutes.

The former Porto striker got his second of the game, his fourth pf the tournament when he headed in another cross in the in the 55th minutes of the game.

It was not over as Karl Toko Ekambi completed his brace with a solo effort in the 67th minutes.

Cameroon top the league with 6 points from two games while Ethiopia remain winless from two.

In the other game involving group A teams, Burkina Faso defeated Cape Verde 1-0 to secure their first win of the campaign.

Boureima Bande 39th minutes strike was enough to give The Stallions the win against the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde.

Burkina Faso played the game without their captain and start player Bertrand Traore who was amongst the four COVID cases recorded for the Stallions.
