AFCON 2021: Super Eagles could earn up to N2B in prize money

The Super Eagles of Nigeria could earn up to N2,000,000 after the latest announcement by The Confederation of African Football.

Nigeria who finished third in the last edition is vying to claim the title in Cameroon for the 4th time and could be rewarded handsomely.

CAF announced the prize money increment this week to show their commitment and seriousness.

The champions prize money has been increased from $4.5 million to €4.5 million, the runners-up from US$2.5 million to €2.64 million.

The third-place playoff winners and semi-finalist money increased from $2.0 million to €2.2 million, while the quarter-finalists will earn €703,361.

Meanwhile, each of the 24 countries that entered for the competition will receive at least €534,000 for participation.

A win for Super Eagles means the prize money of €2.64 million which is around N2,000,000 while at least €703,361 (N327,079,561) is guaranteed in case the they failed to make it out of their group.
