AFCON 2025: Morocco top early data Projections
A supercomputer model has predicted Morocco as the winner of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The host nation has emerged as the leading contender ahead of the tournament in December 2025 and January 2026.
The prediction comes from the Opta supercomputer. It is a data-driven system that simulates tournament outcomes using team rankings, recent performances, player data, and other statistical factors.
According to the model, Morocco has the highest chance among the 24 teams to win the title. The probability of lifting the trophy stands at about 19.1%. The supercomputer also identified Egypt and Senegal as other strong contenders.
This type of supercomputer forecast does not announce the actual winner. Instead, it offers an informed statistical view of likely outcomes before the games begin. The Opta model runs many simulated versions of the tournament and records how often each team wins. The team with the most simulated titles becomes the favourite.
The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations will begin on December 21, 2025. Matches will take place across Morocco until January 18, 2026. As the tournament gets underway, attention will focus on whether the statistical favourite can turn the prediction into reality.
We are genuinely impressed by the advancement of technology and cannot wait to see if the supercomputer successfully predicts the 2025 AFCON winner when the final whistle blows.
