AFCON 2025: Top Scorers So Far After First Round
The first round of group stage matches at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco is now over, and there are several promising players already making an impact on the scoresheet.
Algeria captain Riyad Mahrez is among the joint top scorers after scoring twice in his side’s 3–0 win over Sudan, placing him at the top of the scoring chart following the opening fixtures.
Mahrez is joined on two goals by Senegal attacker Nicolas Jackson, who scored twice in Senegal’s win over Botswana, and Tunisia’s Elias Achouri, who also scored two goals against Uganda.
A number of other players have also made their mark with a single goal each after round one. Mohamed Salah opened his account for Egypt, while Nigeria’s Semi Ajayi and Ademola Lookman, Ivory Coast’s Amad Diallo, South Africa’s Lyle Foster, and Equatorial Guinea’s Marvin Anieboh are also on the scoresheet.
As AFCON 2025 progresses, fans eagerly await to see who will emerge as the eventual Golden Boot winner at the end of the competition.
