The Young Scorpions keep 100% record
Gambia U-20 men’s national team, The Young Scorpions have sent a strong message to the Flying Eagles after trashing South Sudan 5-0 in the quarterfinal game on Friday.
The West Africans who are one of the two nations with a 100% Group stages record destroyed South Sudan their quarterfinal opponents at the ongoing AFCON U-20 in Egypt.
Adama Bojang scored three goals, and Moses Jargu, and Mahmudu Bajo scored the goals as Gambia U-20 completed a 5-0 rout of South Sudan.
The win confirms Gambia U-20’s place in the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup, and a semifinal place at the AFCON U-20 where Flying Eagles are waiting.
Flying Eagles must be wary of the Young Scorpions who have scored 9 goals and yet to concede any at the tournament.
The semifinal game between Nigeria U-20 and Gambia U-20 will be played on Monday at 6 pm Nigerian time.
Tunisia U-20 have also booked their places at the World Cup after beating Congo 5-4 via a penalty shootout after the game ended 3-3 after 120 minutes of action.
