Sergio Aguero had a dream end to his Premier League career with Manchester City as he scored twice off the bench in Manchester City’s 5-0 drubbing of Everton at the Etihad Stadium on the final day of the season.
Manchester City took the lead through Kevin De Bruyne before Gabriel Jesus added a second for the champions. English wunderkind Phil Foden added a third just 8 minutes after halftime before Aguero scored a quickfire double after he was introduced in the 65th minute. Aguero’s first goal came after he received the ball from Fernandinho at the edge of the Everton box and took two touches to set himself before sending an outside of the foot finish into the far corner of the net on 71 minutes. His second was even better as he picked out the bottom corner with a powerful header from a Fernandinho cross that left the Everton goalkeeper rooted to the spot in the 76th minute.
Aguero’s double means that he now holds the record for most goals scored for a single Premier League team, eclipsing the record of 183 set by Wayne Rooney for Manchester United with his 184th goal for Manchester City. The Argentine was given a warm farewell by the Etihad faithful and is set to join Barcelona after the UEFA Champions League final next weekend.
