A’Ibom Sports Commissioner charges Ibom Angels to reclaim top-flight status
The Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports in Akwa Ibom State, Sir Monday Uko, has issued a compelling promotion charge to the Akwa Ibom State Female Football team, Ibom Angels.
The Commissioner while adressing players and officials of Ibom Angels FC at a meeting with football stakeholders in the state emphasized the importance of commitment from the team, urging them to strive for victory in the upcoming Nigerian Women Championship.
Expressing optimism about the team’s potential, Uko said he believes that with dedication, Ibom Angels can return to winning ways and reclaim their top-flight status.
He called on sports enthusiasts to rally behind the team, emphasizing the need to avoid divisive tendencies and entitlement mentalities that could hinder the club’s success as they push for a return to the Nigeria Women’s Football League.
Head Coach of Ibom Angels, Mr. Edwin Okon, assured the Commissioner of plans to strengthen the team and play with the determination to achieve positive results.
Also, the Akwa Ibom State Youth and Sports Commissioner had messages for the other state owned teams.
He reiterated the State Government’s commitment to sports development and encouraged the players from all the teams to respect authorities and maintain a high level of professionalism.
Discussing the way forward for Akwa United FC, especially in light of its performance in the 2023/2024 NPFL Season, Uko urged the players to remain focused on the games ahead.

Amidst the remarks from personalities present at the meeting held at the conference room of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, the Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) pledged continued support for Akwa United, Dakkada, and Ibom Angels FC.
He advocated for regular interface meetings to facilitate necessary suggestions, recommendations, and idea implementation for the overall improvement of sporting activities in the Akwa Ibom State.
