AIU drags Tobi Amusan to CAS, files appeal over missed tests

The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) have gone ahead to file an appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sports against Tobi Amusan. The AIU revealed that they have no confidence in the resolution reached by the Disciplinary Tribunal to acquit the hurdler of any wrongdoings.

Amusan was charged earlier this year with an anti-doping violation as she missed some tests, a charge the Nigerian has maintained her innocence against. She was provisionally banned before the independent Disciplinary Tribunal found her not guilty and recommended that she be reinstated on August 17th.

Since then, the world record holder in the women’s 100m hurdles has featured at the World Championships in Budapest, where she lost her title, and the Eugene Diamond League, where she won her third successive Diamond League crown.

AIU filed their appeal on September 15th and have announced that they will be making no further comments on the case until its conclusion.
